China Guardian 2017 Spring Auctions to kick off

The China Guardian 2017 Spring Auctions are set to be held from June 16 to 23 at the Beijing International Hotel in Beijing. The preview will be scheduled for two days from June 16 and the auctions will then follow for the remaining five days.

 

The event will feature more than 8 thousand pieces including Chinese paintings and calligraphy, 20th century and contemporary art, and porcelain, furniture, manuscripts, stamps and coins.

 

The year of 2017 is regarded as “China Guardian Year” in the art circle. This year’s spring auctions will also be a feast of master pieces for all collectors, amateurs, and art agents.

 

CEO of China Guardian Auctions Co. Ltd Hu Yanyan said the China Guardian had always shown a great respect to culture and art, while building itself a name of integrity and profession in the art circle. Hu then added the China Guardian would keep leading the consumption of art and culture in a sustainable, healthy and stable way.

 

Looking to the future, the China Guardian will also soon unveil Asia’s first “one stop” artworks exchange platform, titled China Guardian Center, in Autumn. The China Guardian will redevelop itself to become a new type of art complex which combines the auction, exhibition, relic’s identification and restoration of artwork, as well as conducts exchanges and trainings in the art field.

 

Chinese painting and calligraphy

 

The Chinese painting and calligraphy section, at the China Guardian 2017 Spring Auctions, will be one of many intriguing parts of the event.

 

Masterpieces by artists such as Huang Binhong, Li Keran and Pan Tianshou will be put on show at the Grand View Night. Huang Binhong’s Yellow Mountain, Li Keran’s Inspired by Mao Tse Tun’s Poem and Pan Tianshou’s After Plough will also be highlights of the session, which will be on display for all to see.

The session of classical Chinese painting and calligraphy will feature many quality artworks, including the calligraphy works by the Four Emperors of the Southern Song Dynasty. Some of the works have been collected by museums in China and abroad, but only a few are available at the art market.

Ming Dynasty painter Wu Bin’s Twelve Sages will also be a marvelous piece to see. The scroll features more than 30 different monks, and combines Buddhism beliefs and daily chores. Wu Bin has created a unique style on the figure of Buddha.

The blend of Western and Chinese art has led to the creation of great work. The session, 20th Century and Contemporary Chinese Art Evening Sale, was designed to present oil paintings of different styles from famous painters: such as Wu Dayu’s Rhythm, Luo Zhongli’s Spring Silkworm and Liu Ye’s Sunrise.

Porcelain, Buddhist images and teapots

 

The porcelain, Buddhist images and teapot section includes Ming, Qing and modern porcelain,  fine and rare jades, contemporary jade carving, and bronze Buddhist images.

 

In the porcelain section, specifically, a rare and fine famille rose hibiscus and dragonfly dish from the Qianlong period, along with a bronze-imitation glazed famille rose archaistic zun, with Qianlong seal, mark are the highlights.

Exquisite Zisha teapots, bronze Buddhist images, fine jade carvings and superb embroidery will be presented to collectors. The following items are especially selected:

 

A purple clay teapot by Gu Jingzhou

Saraha – partly gilt, and inlaid with gold, silver and semi-jewellery – is from 17th century Tibet, and stands 20.5cm.high and has a width of 16.5cm.

 

Furniture and works of art

 

The furniture and works of art section highlights include classical furniture and scholar studio objects, as well as modern and contemporary seal art, and stone artworks.

 

A Huanghuali medicine cabinet from the late Ming Dynasty and a Huanghuali coat rack with dragon patterns from Emperor Qianlong period of Qing Dynasty will also be available to view.

The China Guardian will also have three Chinese lutes, which have been collected by Yang Dajun, on show. These will include the Zhong He moon style lacquered Chinese lute, the Zhongni style lacquered Chinese lute, and the Jin Sheng Zhongni style lacquered Chinese lute.

  Many scholar studio objects will also be available to view, for many people to enjoy, with its high cultural and artistic value.

Manuscripts and rare books

 

The manuscripts and rare books section includes several themed areas, showcasing rare books, letters, manuscripts and autographs. The former collection of Kang Sheng, Dream of the Red Chamber, will also be a highlighted part of the section.

  The section featuring Hermes Handbags and Accessories will also make its debut at the spring auction. More than 100 items were especially selected for collectors.
