China Guardian 2016 Spring Auctions to kick off

The China Guardian 2016 Spring Auctions will be held from May 11 - 18 (preview from May 11 - 13; auctions from May 14 - 18) at the Beijing International Hotel in Beijing.

 

The auctions will feature over thousands of pieces, including Chinese painting and calligraphy, 20th century and contemporary art, porcelain, furniture, manuscripts, stamps, and coins.

Chinese painting and calligraphy

 

The China Guardian 2016 Spring Auctions will bring together more than 1,200 masterpieces of famous artists in the Chinese painting and calligraphy category.

 

Classical Chinese painting and calligraphy will be the highlight of this session. More than 340 masterpieces from several eras will be presented at the auction.

 

For example, the authentic work of calligraphy Ju Shi Tie by Zeng Gong, one of the eight great literary men during the Tang and Song dynasties, is worthy of your attention.

More than 900 pieces of works will be presented in the sessions of modern Chinese painting and calligraphy. Among them, Grand View: Chinese Painting Highlight—Modern will showcase 80 masterpieces from contemporary Chinese art masters.

 

The painting Conversation in Pavilion by Huang Binhong and Mountain Ghost by Fu Baoshi are both important works in China’s contemporary art history.

The blend of Western and Chinese art leads to great works. The session 20th Century & Contemporary Chinese Art Evening Sale will present oil paintings of different styles from famous painters.

 

The work 5.12.61 by ZaoWou-ki and New Paris by Wu Guanzhong are the highlights of the session.

Porcelain, Buddhist images, and teapots

 

This section includes Ming and Qing porcelain, modern porcelain, fine and rare jades, contemporary jade carving, bronze Buddhist images.

 

For the section on porcelain, an extremely rare and fine glazed cup with bamboo patterns from reign of Emperor Yongzheng of Qing dynasty will be presented at this session, which is worthy of your wait.

Regarding Buddhist images, Sakyamuni is the main feature. China Guardian will offer the Sakyamuni, a rare bronze gilt Buddhist figure, made during 11 to 12th century.

Exquisite Zisha teapots, fine jade carvings, and superb embroidery also will be presented to collectors.

Furniture and works of art

 

In this section, highlights include classical furniture, scholar’s studio objects and modern and contemporary seal art, as well as stone artworks.

 

A pair of Huanghuali chairs with dragon patterns from the late Ming Dynasty, featuring a very extravagant use of materials, will be one of the favorite choices for collectors.
