China Guardian 2015 Autumn Auctions to open

China Guardian will hold the 2015 autumn auctions from Nov 14-18, with a preview from Nov 11-13 at the convention center of the Beijing International Hotel.

 

This time China Guardian will present 38 sessions in the categories of Chinese paintings and calligraphy, 20th century and contemporary Chinese art, porcelain, jade and art works, rare books, and coins and stamps.

 

Chinese painting and calligraphy

 

The China Guardian 2015 Autumn Auctions will bring together more than 1,200 masterpieces by famous artists of Chinese painting and calligraphy, which are brilliant and worth the wait. This session includes Grand View: Chinese Painting Highlight, Modern Chinese Painting and Calligraphy, and Classical Chinese Painting and Calligraphy among other sessions.

 

Grand View Night, as a market benchmark, has lead the Chinese art market with its excellent quality over the years. China Guardian will present many important works of modern Chinese painting, like Pan Tianshou’s Pine, Qi Baishi’s Longevity and Huang Zhou’s Women Playing Instruments. Among them, Li Keran’s Thousands of Mountains in Autumn, which captures the landscape of the motherland, is a milestone in the art history of new China.

Meanwhile, two treasures from Shiqu Baoji, a collection of famous Chinese classic paintings and calligraphy, will also be presented at the Grand View Night. One is Dong Qichang’s Forest Landscape with Thatch Cottage and the other is Poem in Running Script by Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).

This section also consists of some important private collections, including Destiny of Ink – Chinese Painting Collection by Song Yunbin; Research on Chinese Couplets – Selection from the Chinese Republican Era; Exquisite Selection of Fans and Four Hermits – Paintings Collection by Qian Shoutie, Ding Yanyong, Chen Zizhuang, and Xie Zhiguang from Zhenru Jingshe Studio.

 

Paintings by Zhang Binglin, Wu Changshuo, Pu Xuezhai, and Huang Binhong are all worth your attention.

 

In addition, China Guardian will also launch a specific auction, In Pursuit of Epigraphy: Classical Chinese Calligraphy from the Qing Dynasty, presenting more than 73 calligraphy works.

 

20th century and contemporary Chinese art

 

This section brings together more than 100 quality artworks, which are divided into five sessions, namely, Art of Saiji in Belgium Years, 20th Century of Art, Contemporary Art, 20th Century and Contemporary Art Evening Sale, and ‘85 New Wave Art – 30th Anniversary Sale.

 

It covers oil paintings, sculptures, prints and watercolor paintings. Among them, excellent works like Shi Chong’s Delighted Yong Man and Zhao Bandi’s Young Lady Wearing Lipstick are worth the wait.

Porcelain, Buddhist images, and rare wines

 

This section includes Ming and Qing porcelain, modern porcelain, fine and rare jades, contemporary jade carving, Zisha teapots, bronze Buddhist images and fine and rare wines of the world.

 

For the section on porcelain, an extremely rare and fine glazed blue and white moon flask with double chi ears and auspicious patterns is the highlight. It was produced during the reign of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), during the period that production of China’s blue and white porcelain reached its peak.

Regarding Buddhist images, Vajrayana is the main feature. China Guardian will offer the Vajrasattva, a rare bronze gilt Buddhist figure, made during the reign of Yongle Emperor of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644).

Also, China Guardian will provide collectors a wine feast. Highlights include excellent vintages transported directly from Bordeaux in France.

 

Exquisite Zisha teapots, fine jade carvings, and superb embroidery also will be presented to collectors.

 

Furniture and works of arts

 

In this section, highlights include classical furniture, scholar’s studio objects and modern and contemporary seal art, as well as stone artworks.

 

A pair of Huanghuali chairs with dragon patterns from the late Ming Dynasty (1368 – 1644), featuring a very extravagant use of materials, will be one of the favorite choices for collectors.

Manuscripts and rare books

 

This part includes several themed sessions, providing rare books, letters, manuscripts, and autographs.
