After two days of exhibitions and two days of auctions, China Guardian Hong Kong 2015 Autumn Auctions presented eight sessions of over 1000 lots with total sales amounting to 197 million HKD.

A 100 percent sale was achieved during the “Enlightenment from Beyond - Selected Paintings and Calligraphy by Wang Chi-Yuan” session, and the auction of “Exquisite Chinese Inlaid Bronzes of Fashion and Glamour from the Feng Wen Tang Collection” was also successful.

Chinese Painting and Calligraphy

The overall performance of this section was good. Chinese modern painting presented three sessions, among which "Chinese Painting and Calligraphy from the Four Seas" achieved a total sales volume of 68, 30 million HKD. After several rounds of fierce bidding, Study Offering, a painting from 19th century artist Ren Yu sold for 2.95 million HKD.

In the section of Chinese classical painting, Wang Hui’s Luofu Mountains was the highlight selling for 7.28 million HKD.

Chinese calligraphy was also popular among collectors. The real transaction prices for the 12 calligraphy scripts on the fan sectors scored higher than the estimated prices. Zhu Yunming’s "Five-Character Poem in Cursive Script" was sold for 1.79 million HKD.

The session “Grace from Dafengtang Studio – Painting and Calligraphy by Chang Dai-chien and His School” achieved sales volumes of 3.75 million HKD, with a transaction rate of 71 percent. Sun Jiaqin’sGod in Song Style sold for 560,000 HKD, six times higher than its estimated price.

All the items from session “Enlightenment from Beyond – Selected Paintings and Calligraphy by Wang Chi-Yuan” were sold amounting to a sales volume of 5.26 million HKD.

Bronze Ware

“Exquisite Chinese Inlaid Bronzes of Fashion and Glamour from the Feng Wen Tang Collection” was one of the most attractive sessions of China Guardian Hong Kong 2015 Autumn Auctions. About 80 percent of its items sold achieving a sales volume of 37.17 million HKD.

After fierce competition, a gilt bronze goblet from the Chinese Han Dynasty (BC206-AD220) with auspicious animal pattern was bought by renowned collector Liu Yiqian for 6.245 million HKD, the highest of this session.

Porcelain and Works of Art

The session of “Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art” featured a carved polychrome lacquer spring box and a cover from Empire Qianlong’s reign of Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). It sold for 4.72 million HKD. A famille-rose millefleurs tripod censer from the same period was also sold at 2.17 million HKD.

Other sessions

The “20th Century and Contemporary Chinese Art” session saw Wu Guanzhong’sGreen Landscape topped all with a final bidding price of 3.304 million HKD.

The session of “Classic Furniture of Ming and Qing Dynasties” presented 17 items fetching a total of 11.151 million HKD. A six-post canopy bed from the Qing Dynasty sold for 3.54 million HKD.

China Guardian Hong Kong 2015 Autumn Auctions presented a debut session called “Yu Xiang – Masterpieces of Japanese Bamboo Art” with the purpose of providing more choices to the collectors. A flower basket with a handle sold for 354,000 HKD.
